When reporters ask him about his name ‘Khan’ featuring in the title he says, “Then I could have made My Name is Shah Rukh . Right? So, no, this is not a self promotion vehicle. Please do not trivialize or deflect from the intention of the subject. The name of the Movie is relevant to the story that Karan and screenplay writer Shibani Bhatija have visualized.”

Recently SRK played the role of a quizmaster to host the 4Ps business and marketing quiz DARE 09 and recalled his poverty/kadki days.

SRK talking to the students said, ’’I’m the most successful failure. My mother didn’t live long enough to see me become a superstar. Ab pata nahin Delhi mein yeh word use karte hain ya nahin, but there were times jab meri kudki ho gayi thi. Kudki is when you lose everything and you’re on the road. I equated poverty to failure at one point in my life. I didn’t want to be poor. So I did Deewana, a film that Armaan Kohli had refused. I did Baazigar that my friend Salman didn’t want to do. I acted in Darr because Aamir turned it down and I worked in Dil Aashna Hai because Saif refused it. These films paid well and I was working to avoid unemployment. When Dilip saab (Dilip Kumar) and I were watching my Devdas, I asked him, ‘Why did you do Devdas?’ And he said, ‘Pata nahin. Tab ek lakh rupaiya mila tha’. Then success happened… My speech ends. Normally, people clap now.”

India’s first televised ’swayamvar’ concluded here late Sunday with the famous Bollywood item girl Rakhi Sawant choosing Toronto-based businessman Elesh Parujanwala as her life partner in a unique reality TV show.

In NDTV Imagine’s ‘Rakhi ka Swayamvar’, Rakhi Sawant made the final choice from the three finalists — from the original list of 16 contestants in 26 episodes. The other two finalists were young aspirant Manas Katyal and businessman Chhitiz Jain, both from New Delhi.

‘I have been watching Elesh from day one. On and off the camera, he has been the same and has really taken care of me. He is everything I was looking for and I am glad to have found him on the Swayamvar. The swayamvar means finding a jeevan saathi (life partner) and I have found Elesh.

‘Today is our engagement. I am ready to get married now, but we need to understand each other better off camera. We will soon get married in front of all of you in keeping with all our traditions,’ Rakhi Sawant said after announcing her choice to a waiting audience across the country.

Decked up in red and gold lehenga-choli by Neeta Lulla and kundan jewellery, Rakhi Sawant looked a perfect bride.

In the dramatic finale round, Rakhi Sawant garlanded Elesh — as the audience clapped on.

The colourful event, held at the Hotel Leela Kampinsky here Sunday, saw a host of bollywood celebrities like choreographer Saroj Khan, actors Ravi Kishen and Ram Kapoor, who posed as brothers to the bride, apart from others like Smita Bansal and Sudha Shivpuri in the audience.
